A timeless protective talisman, traditionally associated with peaceful sleep and pleasant dreams. Inspired by the long-standing dreamcatcher tradition, this handmade piece brings together natural materials, traditional craftsmanship and meaningful symbolism.
According to tradition, the woven web acts as a protective filter, allowing good dreams to pass through while catching unwanted dreams and thoughts. As morning light arrives, these are traditionally believed to disappear, while the feathers guide good dreams gently towards the sleeper.
Each dreamcatcher is handmade from a natural bamboo wood hoop, cotton, feathers and beads, preserving the character and individuality of traditional craft. Ancient Ojibwe stories tell of Asibikaashi, the Spider Woman, who watched over the children of her people. As the community grew, mothers and grandmothers began creating dreamcatchers to help continue her protection.
